Born in the famous pottery town of Seto in Aichi prefecture in 1953, Nagae Shigekazu creates porcelain artworks with celadon glazes that show his high level of technical prowess over the ceramic medium. He uses ikomi (casting) molds using liquid porcelain, followed by a long process of drying and bisque-firing. The result are stunning, varied surfaces that are subtle and full of texture for slow looking.
