Inayoshi Osamu (b. 1976) is a ceramicist making a name for himself in the Tokyo and Kyoto scene. He was born in 1976 and trained in Mino and Seto, where he took an interest in historical pottery techniques. Inayoshi is largely inspired by the pottery produced in Atsumi kilns (渥美窯 Atsumigama), which consisted of efficacious and secular functional wares, such as urns, sutra containers, small plates, roofing tiles for the temples in the area and more. His interest lies in ceramics dating back to the Heian period.

This Ash glazed guinomi features a warm, earth toned color palette that belies a slight blue-grey ash-glazed spot to one side, creating a wonderful blend of colors that still retain the overall netural tones.

This sake cup uses the natural surroundings he explores. Shinzen-yu (Shinzenyu, or shinzen yu), means a natural ash glaze, or a glaze containing natural ash. His digs in the mountains for clay glazes are reflected in his works, which meditate on how the earth is always bound to clay craft.
