The master potter Suzuki Goro showcases a beautiful deep green Oribe glaze on this jar, which features several playful geometric motifs incised onto the surface. The bulbous shape of the jar complimented by the petal-like serrated edges of the lip. Deeply inspired by the Oribe traditions of Mino kilns during the Momoyama Period (1573-1615), Suzuki's interpretations of Oribe ware are true to its roots, with a deep copper green glaze and bold designs. He is the most unrestrained of today’s Oribe artists: He reimagines traditional clay forms, with his childlike disposition he depicts his playful painted or carved surface decorations that include anything from comic strip cats and birds to dogs, and other doodles.
