Hisada Shigeyoshi (1946-2001) was one of the few contemporary artists to experiment with new types of tenmoku glazes while also re-creating traditional examples . The artist submitted a vessel of his classic tenmoku, named “Wind,” to the 25th Tōkai Traditional Art Craft Exhibition, where it won the Grand Prize of the Traditional Japanese Art Craft Association. This is a red tenmoku water jar, one of his revivals in Tenmoku glazes. His work is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art & many others in Japan and internationally.
