Ueda Naokata V (1928 – 2016) was the 5th generation of a famous Shigaraki pottery family.
The shifuku for this light shigaraki tea caddy represents summer, with blue wave-cloud patterns decorated with summer flowers. He was born in Shigaraki, and studied under his father Ueda IV, who specialized in tea bowls. This chaire has a Katatsuki, or cylindrical tall shouldered form.
