Biography 

Born in 1949 in Izu-no-Kuni, Shizuoka Prefecture.




1959 Received lay ordination from Master Sawaki Kodo




1961 Became a student attendant to Ji-an (Jian) and Yaszaemon Matsunaga




1968–1975 Studied kaiseki cuisine at “Kitcho” in Osaka




From 1979 Traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia, holding solo exhibitions in various locations




1980 Built and established Nakao Kiln




Currently active as a ceramic artist and culinary researcher (Director of Mui-an)
