Born in 1924 in Tamba, Hyogo, Shogen Naosaku, the fifteenth-generation potter in his lineage, began his ceramic career under the guidance of his father, the thirteenth-generation Naosaku. He started creating pottery at the age of 14. In 1970, he researched and introduced fine red Tamba ware, later focusing on white Tamba glaze. In 1976, he officially succeeded as the fifteenth-generation Naosaku. Recognized as an Intangible Cultural Property of Tamba-Kachikui-yaki, his works have been offered to the Takamatsu-no-Miya Imperial Household and Ise Grand Shrine. His pottery practice upholds Tamba’s ceramic heritage, combining innovative firing techniques with a steadfast respect for tradition.
