This pair of Tokkuri features a classic form, adorned with a delicate, airy depiction of bamboo leaves in a scrolling design across each flask's body. The artwork is elegantly framed by a simple line of cobalt blue sometsuke at the base of the flask's neck, adding a touch of refinement to the overall aesthetic.

The celebrated artist Kondo Yuzo initially worked as an assistant for Tomimoto Kenkichi between 1921 to 1924, while employed on the recommendation of Shoji Hamada. For many years he was considered one of the most skillful potters in Kyoto, with a dynamic and expressive brush that sought to find new expression within the tradition of Sometsuke. He was designated a Living National Treasure in 1977 for his work in Sometsuke.
