This teabowl present Ajiki Hiro’s deep fascination with archaeological findings: it becomes an archaeological site of an accumulation of history, revealing fossils of fish and birds, perhaps even dinosaurs. Gold, in Japanese art history is associated with purity and the divine. In this tea bowl, Ajiki considers history as a pure and sacred part of our lives. The textured surface, created by the salt glaze and enhanced with a gold finish, memorializing these histories within the chawan.

He states: "The small space embraced within your palms [when holding a teabowl] becomes a mirror to reflect both yourself and the world around you, telling a story… the tea ceremony itself offers a space and time for communication as participants share equally in the moment."
