Apart from Shino and Oribe in the Mino area, Kiseto (Yellow Seto) is another iconic glaze. Yamada Kazu (b. 1954) has created Kiseto ware in his extensive portfolio of various Mino-yaki. Born to a pottery family, Yamada continues the tradition of Mino wares. In this water jar, carved lines and a summery green patches of color provide visual breaks and a sense of naturalism in the body of misty yellow.

The green is produced by the presence of copper sulfate in the yellow-brown glaze. The yellow color in kiseto is a result of lower iron levels in the glaze constitution. The piece is enclosed in its original signed wooden box.
