A potter based in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, Ito Hidehito (b. 1971) is celebrated as a star in classical celadon techniques, glazes, and forms. Following in the footsteps of master veteran potters in celadon such as Minegishi Seiko, Nakashima Hiroshi, Kawase Shinobu, and others, Ito is a lifelong student of Chinese celadon and Tang dynasty glazes from the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, as well as historical examples preserved in Japan, Ito has achieved mastery in porcelain craftsmanship.

His explorations have deepened his fascination with the pure characteristic of blue and beige celadon glazes. In addition to celadon, he has also mastered a range of glaze types and techniques, including neriage clay techniques, Shino ware, and white porcelain. With his technical versatility and refined aesthetic sensibility, Ito Hidehito is celebrated internationally as a potter of exceptional skill.
