The Kasama-based potter Fukuno Michitaka (b. 1970)'s functional wares recall the works of master potter Ito Motohiko, both of which revolve around both texture and pattern. Fukuno utilizes the Nunome technique in which canvas is pressed onto wet clay surfaces to create small, gridded indentations. His works blend organic forms with geometric patterning, recalling traditional Japanese textiles.
