1898  Born in Kagoshima, Japan

1916  Entered the Department of Architecture Faculty of Science and

   Engineering Waseda University left due to illness

1924  Studied Nihonga Japanese painting under Yamauchi Tamon and Western painting

   at Kawabata Painting School became a disciple of Miyagawa Kozan II

1927  Joined the Tōtōkai, Society of Eastern Ceramic Artists

1928  First exhibited at the 15th Ministry of Commerce and Industry Crafts Exhibition

1929  Exhibited Red Iron Crystal Bamboo-patterned Vase 鉄砂釉竹又陶製花器 

   at the 10th Imperial Exhibition winning his first selection 

   Studied Indian philosophy under Okakura Yoshisaburō 

1931  Exhibited Wall-mounted Lighting Galaxy 銀河 at the 12th Imperial Exhibition 

   Awarded the Special Prize

1932  Exhibited Glaze Inlay Cross-patterned Vase 十字文花瓶 at the 13th Imperial Exhibition

   Awarded the Special Prize

1933  Achieved non judged status at Imperial Exhibition

1940  Following the death of Miyagawa Kozan II became a disciple of Hazan Itaya

1945  Built a kiln at Tsukuba

1949  Relocated to Kamihongo Matsudo City built a kiln

1950  Appointed councilor of the Nitten Exhibition

1955  Became a member of the Kōfūkai 

1957  Awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize

1958  Became a councilor of Nitten

1963  Served as President of Tōtōkai

1969  Appointed director of Nitten

1973  Became advisor of Nitten

1977  Died
