Born in 1981, Hiroyumi's ceramic journey began during his university years. After graduating, he immersed himself in the world of clay craftsmanship in Korea. Upon returning to Japan and gaining valuable experience in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, he took the noble step of establishing himself as an independent ceramic artist. Today, he runs his own studio in Iga, Mie Prefecture.
Throughout his career, Hiroyumi has explored a wide range of ceramic styles. He has worked on Joseon ware, creating pieces in the traditions of Kohiki, Mishima, and Hakeme. He has also honed various Yakishime glazes, with his Shigaraki ware standing out. Recently, he has embraced the challenge of working with Shino ware, adding diversity to his portfolio by creating pieces in various styles. While continually refining his craftsmanship, Hiroyumi maintains a deep connection with the timeless appeal of classic ceramics, all the while forging his unique artistic path.
