Yoshikawa Masamichi is a celebrated artist from Kanagawa prefecture, whose works are held in museums around the world, as well as in unique institutions such as Nagoya airport, and the Japan Foundation. His studio is currently based in Tokoname. He specializes in creating contemporary seihakuji, a type of ceramic with a bluish-white glaze, and subverts the traditionally delicate and thin medium with his robust, weighted forms that have thick celadon glazes that blanket over his porcelain surfaces.
