Born in Tajimi city, Kato Tsubusa has become a recognized figure in the contemporary ceramic world. Unlike conventional flawless serene porcelain, Kato’s pale blue glazed porcelain manifests motion, drama and energy. The serrated edges of his functional works counteracts its own form with sculptural interpretation, blurring the lines between form and function.
This white porcelain is covered with a tender, overflowing celadon glaze, invoking the signature colors and aesthetics of Kato Tsubusa’s works. The faceted surface underneath the glaze has grounded this delicate piece, giving it strength.
