Minegishi Seiko specialized in a special cracked beige celadon glaze which is exemplified in this sublime large jar. The piece is epic in size and articulates his glaze formation well. This beige glaze originated from China: In theory, the different degrees of contraction and expansion between the clay and the glaze contributed to the crackle. Minegishi's skill shines through in his ability to predict when to increase, decrease the temperature during firing. He tames the glaze, creating controlled patterns in this amazing surface scape.
The first time Minegishi-san exhibited in America was with Dai Ichi Arts.
