Tsujimura Shiro's meditations upon ego shines through in this faceted Iga flower vase. The overall shape of this vessel compliments Ikebana, or traditional Japanese flower design. An overglaze of muted olive green drips down the jar over the wabi-sabi surface, creating textures that mimic the movement of moss down an old stone pillar over time. One can observe his meditations upon how time influences nature. In this jar, he embraces the imperfect ways artists engage with ego by highlighting an unassuming shape while masterfully highlighting the quality of Iga clay.
