***********Tea Bowl Series 1********** Takahiro KATO is a young artist for whom we predict a brilliant future. He was born in Nagoya in 1972, to an esteemed ceramics family. His grandfather is Gifu”Ēs Tokuro Kato, a Living National Treasure, known for his work in the Mino/Seto tradition. Since 1999 Takahiro Kato has exhibited consistently and widely in Japan at Uneda Hankyu main store in Osaka; Maruei, Nagoya; Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo; Bunnkindo, Gifu and Hankyu Umeda, Osaka; Korinboyamato, Kanazawa; and again at Bunnkindo, Gifu and Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Tokyo. Dai Ichi Arts, Ltd., is pleased to bring his art to an American audience. Kato is not relying merely on his genes to fuel his artistic future. Travel and music are essential parts of his experience. In 1994 he traveled through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Eastern and Western Europe, and China. He studied the arts and Spanish language in Granada for a year. Everywhere he honed his eye and his sensibilities, always seeking a fresh way of seeing and expressing the unchanging and elemental. Dai Ichi will present a selection of teabowls with Shino glaze, and several other pieces including a black Oribe teabowl and a marvelous vase that is a new interpretation of the Ki-Seto (yellow) tradition. *************Tea Bowl Series 2**************
